Nematodes, DNA, and UV Radiation

  1. A team of Cambridge University scientists has altered the DNA of a nematode worm, formerly of the species Caenorhabditis elegans.
  2. They have forced this new worm sub-species to incorporate an unnatural, 21st amino acid into its proteins, expanding the palette from the 20 found in actual living creatures.
  3. When irradiated with Ultra-Violet Radiation, the unnatural amino acid causes these modified nematodes to glow a bright cherry red.
Given this discovery and the recent revelation that human DNA has been enhanced as well, it is imperative that the government and scientists reveal to us the purpose of these experiments.
Will the law enforcement branches of government admit that they'll be able to track ex-convicts through Ultra-Violet Radiation? Will they guarantee that only convicted felons will be treated with this procedure? What other colors will these scientists add to the palette of the classifiers? With fluorescent green and cherry red already available, what is next?
We'll report back here when more information is available.

Truth Decay

  1. Fluoride has been in America's drinking water since 1951
  2. Standardized test scores have been declining in America since 1953
  3. Tooth decay rates have been unchanged since 1949
  4. Fluorine has the highest electron affinity of any element in the periodic table, sporting an electronegativity of 3.98 and a cubic crystal stucture.
With all these verified facts, it's astonishing to realize that there has been essentially no investigation of the actual effects of this highly corrosive element's introduction into our drinking water.
It seems likely that, in a burst of irony, local governments trying to save money may completely undermine the federal government's program of dosing its citizens with this highly toxic element. We can only wait and see if bad economic times lead to more freedom from forced medication.
